5 Tips to Become Dive-Ready in No Time

Thursday 1st of April 2021

If you too are a water-baby but as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, I can totally relate with you. So can the professionals at Four Seasons Maldives at Kuda Huraa and that is exactly why they go the extra mile to make guests relaxed and confident before the plunge.

By signing up for a private course in the shallow lagoon of the island, you can train with seasoned divers who are equipped with the finest quality gear as they guide you through safe steps. But before you sign up, here are 5 things you must do to be dive-ready, according to the pros.

Stay in shape – both physically and mentally

Diving demands a fit body, specially a strong heart, big lungs and muscle strength. There are many ways you can achieve this but Kuda Huraa’s PADI Master Instructor Ibrahim Nazeer recommends choosing the exercise that makes you feel good and sticking to a regular practice.

Also, if you really want to get the full experience of immersing yourself in peaceful underwater serenity, throw in some meditation classes in-between and learn the techniques of staying calm, deep breathing, and attuned awareness which are all useful tools for divers.

Wherever you have WiFi, home-study!

The more prepared you are, the better you can react. Therefore, one of the best things about learning to dive with Four Seasons Kuda Huraa is the home study. Rather than tackling the long lectures on the site, read on the theory at the comfort of your home before your visit to the resort so to skip ahead and have the most time actually practicing in the water.

Make sure you bring a massive sense of adventure!

Diving with all the gear can be intimidating sometimes and travelling with them might be even more difficult. Kuda Huraa has got you covered with everything you could possibly need to dive is provided on-site: Buoyancy Control Device (BCD), regulator, normal air and/or Nitrox, 3mm shorty wetsuit, mask, fins, and computer. Safety equipment such as reef hook, surface marker balloon, divers’ rattle, air horn, and lost diver locator are also provided. Prior to every dive, the skilled masters will go over the usage, technicality, and safety of every single piece of equipment to ensure that all you have to focus on will be the breathtaking seascape after your plunge.

Channel your inner mer-person

Can you really call yourself a water-baby if you don’t know how to swim? Confidence in the water comes with knowing your way around the depths and if you cannot swim, Nazeer and his team will help. They place a huge emphasis on building relationships, safeguarding guests, and helping individuals overcome their fears, resulting in confident, happy, and safe dives.

Always choose exclusivity

Whether you’re aged 8 or 80, learning to dive is an individual process. That’s why Kuda Huraa’s courses are completely bespoke and provided on a private basis. It allows Nazeer and his team to zero in on any concerns, provide customized information, match the learning speed to individual needs, and offer maximum flexibility in terms of when and where to dive.\

So, are you ready to tick all the boxes and go diving already? Kuda Huraa’s Dive Discovery team regularly scout out the best new dive spots to ensure guests the best chance of meeting local turtles, mantas, sharks and napoleons, and marveling at the incredible marine biodiversity.
