Abu Dhabi Aids USD 50 Million to Maldives

On 9th March, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) signed to provide USD 50 million as grant aid to Maldives for the year 2020. The Memorandum of Understanding marks the single largest grant aid extended by the Fund to the Maldives till date.

The agreement was signed by Maldives’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and ADFD’s Director General Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi at a ceremony held in Dubai.

The foreign ministry of Maldives acknowledged ADFD’s continued support towards the development of the island nation, especially assistance provided for key infrastructure projects, since the late 1970s.

Mohammad Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD: In line with its goal of supporting growth in developing countries, the Fund has contributed to around 97 strategic transportation projects valued at Dh14 billion in 44 countries around the world to date. (2019)
