The Russian flag carrier, Aeroflot, has announced that it will be resuming its direct flights between the capital of Maldives, Male' and Moscow, Russia, this May.
To be more specific, the daily scheduled flights between the two countries will begin on the 13th of May and will be done on the Airbus A330. Anyone who has tickets for an earlier date will be taking a connecting flight from Colombo, Sri Lanka operated by Sri Lankan Airlines.
According to the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, the usual agreement between the Maldives and Russia regarding air travel has not changed and as per it, the Maldives will be providing aircraft support services such as ground handling and fueling services as necessary for the flights.
In the past years, Aeroflot was responsible for bringing in a majority of the Russian tourists to the Maldives, In 2021 alone, more than 200,000 Russian tourists entered the Maldives, which placed them second only to India on the Maldivian top arrival chart.
