Manta Air couldn’t be happier about their newest member of the fleet having taken a 57.5 hour long journey home yesterday. The brand-new DHC 6-300 touched down at Velana International Airport on March 31st at 1725 hrs.

The ‘Manta’ was first spotted last week outside the Rocky Mountain facility at Spring Bank Airport Calgary – Canada, where it initially began its new venture. The Aircraft touched down at Greenland, Iceland and UAE before it finally reached Velana International Airport. This new addition is the eighth seaplane aircraft in the fleet for Manta Air.

Launched in November of 2019, Manta Air came with a bang as a game-changer in the Maldivian Aviation industry. Their goal to serve with the finest of hospitality in the sky led to the introduction of a premium service, the first-of-its-kind in a domestic airline in the sky. Manta Air also commenced pre-publishing a schedule for six months ahead, giving customers the convenience of planning their flight way ahead of time. Moreover, the added legroom in the Manta aircraft truly adds a feel of luxury and comfort onboard Manta Air.

n addition to the seaplane services, Manta Air operates domestic flights to Dhaalu Airport in Kudahuvadhoo, and Dharavandhoo Airport in Baa Atoll from VIA onboard three ATR 72-600 aircraft. The new aircraft will be flown to the Manta Airbase in Dhaalu Aiport for the installation of floats before it joins the seaplane operations.
