Amilla Maldives Makes History With An Outstanding Achievement

Congratulations are in line for the hardworking crew of Amilla Maldives Resort and Residencies for being the very first resort in Maldives to achieve the ‘Considerate Collection’ green status. The achievement comes with great recognition as the resort is no stranger to being one of the most eco-friendly resorts located in the country.

The Considerate Collection of Small Luxury Hotels of the world handpicks resorts and hotels from across the globe that meet the Sustainability Criteria and Pillars that are aligned with the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals as well as the Global Sustainability Tourism Council. To be recognized as one of the Sustainable Innovators in the Hotel Industry is one of the most remarkable achievements Amilla Maldives has made during its time, giving the guests just another reason to visit and experience true luxury on this paradise on Earth.

Set in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, the promotion of Amilla Maldives Resort to Considerate Collection status comes only weeks after the announcement of its membership in Small Luxury Hotels, which only proves the immense efforts and hard work the team has been working on towards a sustainable and an eco-friendly future.

It is a culmination of the hard work of our whole team in reaching for and achieving the sustainability goals we enacted 2 ½ years ago.” Expressing her joy over the achievement, the Amilla’s Sustainability and Wellness Mentor, Victoria Kruse reflects on the team effort.

Since Victoria and her husband, Jason Kruse, took over the reins at Amilla Maldives just over two years ago, they've launched around 30 different sustainability projects, ranging from homegrown organic ingredients for the kitchens to regenerating the house reef and protecting the nesting sites of the beautiful long-tailed tropicbirds, who normally only nest on uninhabited islands but found a safe haven among the pristine jungle of the naturally lush private island retreat.
