This summer, JOALI Maldives invites families to embark on an unforgettable journey of artistic expression and learning. The island-wide art collection, featuring one-of-a-kind installations and experiential pieces, sets the stage for an inspiring experience. Renowned artists from around the world will join the camp, guiding and educating young participants in a variety of artistic disciplines.
Meet the Artists
Throughout the summer, JOALI Maldives will host several international artists, each bringing their unique talents and perspectives to the camp:
Emmanuel Deschodt (July 8-14): A Parisian artist and boxer, Emmanuel will offer wood painting workshops, boxing classes, and a live performance of his ‘Punch Portrait,’ blending physicality with artistic expression.
Karu Paper Studio (July 15-21): Anouk Vigneau, founder of Karu Paper Studio in Lille, Paris, will lead five paper workshops, teaching children to create art through cutting, pasting, folding, and bending.
Gabriela Noelle (August 5-11): This Cuban-American artist from Miami creates interactive pieces that inspire childlike wonder. Gabriela will host three workshops, encouraging kids and families to explore their imagination and curiosity through art.
A Diverse Camp Itinerary
The camp's theme, ‘Choose Your Joy, Spark Your Creativity,’ reflects JOALI Maldives’ philosophy of joy and immersion in local culture. Designed for children aged 4 to 12, the camp includes a variety of activities:
Education & Sustainability: Kids will learn from JOALI’s sustainability experts about protecting the planet. Activities include tree planting, organic gardening, and workshops on reducing plastic waste and conserving energy.
Art Classes: Beyond the visiting artists’ workshops, children will explore their creativity with JOALI’s resident artists through pottery, photography, wood painting, marble, and crystal art.
Island Immersion: Young adventurers will discover the Maldives' fascinating plant life on island walks and stargaze with JOALI’s resident astronomer.
Culture: Kids will experience Maldivian culture through traditional music and dance performances.
Wellness: Wellness sessions include making natural soaps and skincare products, yoga classes, and boxing classes, all led by JOALI’s wellness experts.
Culinary: Little chefs can participate in cooking classes, learning to make sushi, sandwiches, and traditional Maldivian dishes like Mas Huni and Huni Roshi.
Sports & Games: Daily activities include padel tennis, foam parties, ocean scavenger hunts with JOALI’s marine biologist, beach games, and more.
