The flagship carrier of Austria, Austrian Airlines announced that they will be recommencing flight operations to the Maldives for the holiday season. Many airlines operate seasonal flights to the Maldives and with the peak season set to start very soon, demand for air travel has soared worldwide.
The airline will be operating three scheduled flights every week between Velana International Airport and the Austrian capital, Vienna at Vienna International Airport. The flight operations will take place on commercial class aircrafts of Boeing 777-200. Austrian Airlines also operated seasonal flights to the Maldives during the winter season of 2021 as well.
As of August 2022, Maldives welcome 16,590 visitors from Austria and the Austrian market was ranked as the 12th highest source market during the month. With more visitors expected to visit the island destination during the holiday season and with Austrian Airlines resuming flights to the Maldives, the Austrian market is forecasted to increase in the coming months.
