Banyan Tree Greater Good Grants - For the Innovative and Impactful

This year has surely been one ride of a rollercoaster, but that’s no stopping Banyan Tree Global Foundation from ending the year with a blast. For the first time in 11 years, the foundation has launched a Greater Goods Grants, made available to all external stakeholders.

Designed to encourage external stakeholders to care more for major core issues such as biodiversity and conservation, resource use and waste management, climate change and resilience, education and empowerment, health and protection and also culture and livelihood, this initiative supports innovative and impactful projects across these 6 areas.

These 6 areas align to the UN Sustainable Development Goals as well as Banyan Tree’s core ethos of ‘Embracing the Environment, Empowering People’. The grant will be given only to projects that have a demonstrated need and urgency, with high standards of ethical principles and is scalable with clear evaluation of success.

The projects must also leverage local, regional and national partnerships necessary to deliver measurable impact. Banyan Tree has 3 resorts in the Maldives, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Angsana Ihuru and Angsana Velavaru.

The 3 luxury resorts of the Maldives are a thriving home for the beautiful coral reefs of the Maldives and also shelters a wide variety of colourful fishes and other exotic marine creatures. The resorts form the epitome of biodiversity and conservation, as the underwater world is also one of the most favourite diving and snorkelling spots for tourists.

Banyan Tree Global Foundation’s funding call for 2021 is now open and the deadline to apply is 31st December 2020.
