Celebrity Chef and Winner of MasterChef India Season 4, Nikita Gandhi will make an appearance at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi this May to thrill guests with her scrumptious plant-based menus. Taking residency from May 8th to 13th 2023, Chef Nikita will deliver a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes to audiences during her stay, giving guests a glimpse of the celebrated vegetarian-Indian cooking scene.
Incepted last year, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi’s celebrity chef residency program received tremendous acclaim and attention from guests with some of the most highly sought-after chefs featured in the culinary extravaganza. This included the founder of SPICEHUNTER®, Marcel Thiele, Michelin-Star Chef Christophe Chiavola and Celebrity Chef Hermant Oberoi from India. The latest addition to the program is Nikita Gandhi who will be serving up a diverse set of breakfast and dinner dining experiences during her time on the island.
As part of her gastronomical residency, Chef Nikita will host cooking demonstrations at the resort’s main kitchen and create an exclusive vegan-four course set menu paired with refreshing drinks. Likewise, she will also hold a live Indian vegan cooking workshop, detailing to guests how she blends flavours from the Arabic and Indian peninsula into her unique creations. Following this, guests will have the chance to taste her dishes.
As for the dining experiences, an Indian vegan breakfast will be hosted at Iru restaurant where a selection of her dishes will feature in a section of the breakfast buffet. A meet and greet will proceed afterwards where Chef Nikita will elaborate on the stories behind the dishes. Another highlight of her stay will take place at the Indian night buffet dinner, where Gandhi’s signature vegan dishes will take centre stage at a section of the restaurant.
Speaking on her upcoming arrival, Nikita enthused: “I am looking forward to bringing flavours that have not been seen before at Iru Fushi and inspiring the guests to try new dishes and provide them with the skills to try their hand at crafting them at home.”
Born and raised in Abu Dhabi, Gandhi fostered a love for culinary arts and food pairings at the early age of eight, when she started cooking independently. After working in finance, she ventured to bring her culinary skills to the global community by auditioning for Season 4 of MasterChef India. She emerged as the winner of that edition and was crowned the youngest Chef to receive the title in 2015.
Reflecting on her time on MasterChef, Chef Nikita reminisced “MasterChef was really the turning point in my career. Throughout the competition, I was challenged to re-imagine and create the non-existent, which to this day I still try to follow. My recipes and creations are always vegetarian, and I draw a lot of inspiration and innovation from my Indian roots and my Middle Eastern upbringing, which really helps to make every dish a unique affair.
