Hosted by South Palm Maldives and Canareef Resort Maldives on April 4th, these discussions mark the beginning of arrangements for the upcoming South Region Symposium, aligning with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision for sustainable tourism growth in the region.
The morning of April 4th saw a dedicated meeting at Gan International Airport, where stakeholders delved into discussions surrounding regional tourism infrastructure and development. Subsequently, the 'Preliminary Meeting with Addu Stakeholders,' hosted by South Palm Maldives, provided a platform for local government officials, business leaders, community representatives, and tourism professionals to share insights and shape the future of tourism in the area.
Ms. Fathmath Thaufeeq, CEO & MD of MMPRC, set the stage for discussions, highlighting the importance of collaboration in driving tourism growth while preserving the cultural and environmental heritage of the Southern Maldives. Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal outlined the government's vision for tourism development in the region, emphasizing sustainable practices that benefit both tourists and local communities. President’s Advisor Khaleel shared strategic insights, while Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq shed light on financial incentives supporting tourism projects in Addu, underscoring the government's commitment to regional economic growth.
Mr. Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Maldivian, discussed efforts by Island Aviation to enhance Southern connectivity and boost tourism development. The stakeholders then engaged in an interactive Q&A session, allowing the community to voice concerns and propose solutions.
