Concluding the Longest Running Travel Bubble Holidays between Qatar and Maldives

Qatar Airways, the world’s leading airlines initiated the first flight to the Maldives when borders reopened on July 15, 2020. Since then, it has gradually increased the number of daily flights to Maldives due to high demand for the sector. On November 2020, Qatar Airways announced ‘Travel Bubble Holidays’ for Qatar nationals and Qatari based residents travelling onboard Qatar Airways to the Maldives.

This initiation removed quarantine or self-isolation requirements on return for citizens upon returning home following a visit to the Maldives, allowing the experience of a hassle-free holiday. Although bookings were open until 24th December whereas the travel time was allocated from December 1, 2020 to January 7, 2020, the travel period was later extended until February 20, 2021 for bookings with minimum three-night duration and last outbound date from Qatar on February 17, 2021.

On February 20, the last inbound flight under the travel bubble landed in Qatar and Qatar Airways Holidays presented the last returnees with a surprise special welcome. It was a celebration of the achievement of operating with no interruption the longest-running travel bubble highlights the fastidious measures and procedures we have employed to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all passengers.

Reportedly, over 3000 passengers on more than 70 returning flights between Qatar and Maldives enjoyed a much-needed getaway in Paradise. All packages include return flights between Qatar and the Maldives on Qatar Airways’ exclusive flights for Travel Bubble Holidays customers, accommodation on a full board basis, return airport transfers, and all taxes. All passengers received special welcome giftpacks and one lucky passenger received a QAR 5,000 voucher to be used against any future booking.

Currently, more than 28 airlines are flying to the Maldives and Qatar Airways is flying in the second most number of tourists on board to the destination. The airline carried 17,013 over 266 flight movements.
