Diamonds Athuruga Maldives has announced the appointment of Gilbert Steiner who joins the team as their Executive Assistant Manager. Gilbert has manoeuvred the hospitality industry for more than 25 years and is a seasoned hotelier with extensive experience. His far-reached work experience spans from Canada and the United States to French Polynesia and Singapore as well as his time in the Maldives.
His initial mark in the industry was laid as a European-trained chef working in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. Through this, he gained invaluable experience at stints in Tour D’Argent, 3 Michelin stars in Paris, 2 Michelin stars in Denmark and France as well as the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, Switzerland. Gilbert’s hospitality career has been particularly focused on Food & Beverage departments, roles which he filled in various high-end hotels and resorts including international hotel chains and Relais & Chateaux located worldwide.
His first brush with the Maldivian hospitality scene came during his time at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa. Making his way up the ladder, Gilbert has been an integral part of many hotel openings in China such as Sheraton, Sofitel and Movenpick and now returns to the Maldives with another challenge as he steps in as the Executive Assistant Manager at Diamonds Athuruga Maldives.
As he embarks on the next phase of his career, Gilbert is determined to continue evolving and developing the Luxury Hotels & Resorts while delivering customer-driven satisfaction and quality service experience. He aims to create memorable moments for guests with a clear goal and direction to carry forward strong business growth and profitability in the demanding hospitality environment.
