Discover the Green Pearls at Reethi Faru As it Shines Brighter than Ever in the Indian Ocean

Surpassing two resorts in the Maldives and two in Seychelles, Reethi Faru grabs the award of Indian Ocean's Leading Green Resort 2020 at World Travel Awards. This luxury escape is a truly magical yet unique place where you can choose from a plethora of experiences to enjoy during your stay. But at the same time, you’ll be helping to protect the precious environment.

The coral reefs in the Maldives have become a magnet, attracting travelers around the world. Reethi Faru’s design efforts were focused on creating a luxurious tropical accommodation experience while ensuring that they uphold the standards required of an eco-resort in Maldives. Artificial reefs have been deployed to salvage the corals that were damaged by coral bleaching and natural storms. These artificial reefs are accumulated in one place to create the “Reethi Garden” or coral garden.

Apart from having a strong goal to create more coral gardens in the island nation, Reethi Faru also kick-started a Manta ID Project with Manta Trust. Each manta has unique spots on the underside, the ventral side, which is used to identify the individual. These photos are sent to the Manta Trust, who then provide us with information on that particular individual (for example, sex, small scale movement patterns, migratory patterns etc.).

Make sure to capture and share your stunning images with the resort’s marine biologist while you’re on a manta snorkel and/ or dive trips with the dive team, Sea Explorer. And while you’re in this magical world, keep a look for turtles. Of the seven species of turtles, 5 can be found in the Maldivian waters. The resort also started the Turtle Identification (ID) project, in collaboration with Olive Ridley Project
