Dusit Thani Maldives is getting ready for a long weekend of joy and celebration to unite guests and the local communities as Eid Al Adha approaches. The festivities start on Friday, July 9 with prayers at the soccer field led by the resort's resident imam and a free trip to a nearby island where guests can participate in traditional local Eid celebrations.
The Recreation manager at the gorgeous resort will lead a Dhivehi language class at the Activity Center on Saturday, and the restaurant's skilled chefs will teach a Maldivian cooking class on Sunday.
With a traditional Boduberu drumming lesson at Sand Bar on Sunday, guests can celebrate and learn about the island rhythms and dances. The Dusit Safeeru, who are The Maldives' cultural ambassadors, will share their knowledge during an educational session.
Visitors are invited to experience the Koadi Neshun (or Maali), a local dance performance that brings ancient folklore to life, on Monday, July 12, by taking a stroll around the island.
General Manager Thomas Weber welcomes visitors to Sand Bar at dusk for traditional Maldivian drinks like kurumba juice and toddy, entertaining events like traditional rope making, and the opportunity to win prizes in a lucky draw. A special Eid dinner at Sea Grill featuring live cooking stations marks the culmination of the celebrations.
