Emirates, a global aviation leader, and Maldivian, the national carrier of the Maldives, have announced an exciting interline partnership, opening up 16 sought-after holiday destinations in the Maldives beyond the capital, Malé. Building on last year's Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two airlines, which aimed to explore collaborative opportunities, this partnership is set to enhance the travel experience for Emirates customers seeking to explore the Maldives archipelago.
This strategic interline agreement creates a host of new options for travelers by allowing them to utilize both carriers' services and networks on a single ticket. The result? A seamless and more convenient journey for passengers heading to the exotic islands of the Maldives. Starting from September 15, travel itineraries can be booked through emirates.com, the Emirates mobile app, or preferred travel agents for flights effective immediately.
Emirates' Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, expressed his delight, saying, "We are thrilled to establish a partnership with Maldivian, to expand our reach into more points in the Maldives. By partnering with the Maldivian flag carrier, we are able to offer customers smooth connections when flying to a wide choice of islands within the country via Malé. By extending this added-value benefit, our customers from across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas can plan their journey to the Maldives with the convenience of booking flights on a single ticket to reach their final destination."
Ibrahim Hamdhan Mohamed, General Manager – Commercial at Maldivian, shared this enthusiasm, stating, "We are excited to embark on this journey with Emirates, a global aviation leader. This partnership would enable us to increase the visibility of our extensive domestic network and it aligns perfectly with our objective of providing seamless connectivity to travelers. Customers will be able to plan and book their entire journey directly through the airline with ease. As the national carrier, we always strive to make Maldives more accessible to travelers from around the world, and we believe the partnership with Emirates will strengthen our position as the leading airline in Maldives."
Emirates customers can now access airports in multiple popular atolls via Malé, including Dharavandhoo Island, Faresmathoda Airport, Funadhoo Airport, Fuvahmulak Island Airport, Gan Island International, Kooddoo Island, Hanimaadhoo Island Airport, Kulhudhuffushi Airport, Hoarafushi Airport, Kaadedhdhoo Island Airport, Kadhdhoo Island, Madivaru Airport, Maafaru International Airport, Maavarulu Airport, Thimarafushi Airport, and Ifuru. For travelers heading to resort islands, the convenience continues as they are just a short seaplane or boat ride away from their final destination once they reach the nearest point in the interline network.
As this partnership evolves, passengers can anticipate more benefits and conveniences that will further enhance their travel experience in the Maldives. Emirates has been a steadfast supporter of the Maldives' tourism and trade growth for over three and a half decades. Commencing operations to Malé in 1987, the award-winning airline currently operates 28 weekly flights between Dubai and the Maldives, offering travelers from nearly 140 destinations the flexibility to choose flights with minimal connection times.
Through its extensive network of codeshare agreements, intermodal partnerships, and interline connections, Emirates continues to extend its global reach, providing increased connectivity and convenient options for travelers worldwide. With this exciting new partnership, travelers can expect even greater opportunities to explore the captivating beauty of the Maldivian islands.
