The scenic pearls of the Indian Ocean, The Maldives has once again honoured Emirates Airlines by marking its significant contribution to the growth of the Maldivian tourism industry. The World’s largest international airline was recognized at a glittering Gala Evening held on 3rd October to commemorate the National Tourism Day in the Maldives. At the Gala Evening, Emirates was presented with the President’s Tourism Gold Award by the President of Maldives, His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
As the country celebrates its Golden Year of Tourism, Emirates received the prestigious recognition for “Outstanding Contributions to the Development of Tourism in the Maldives” signifying the role played by the airline it its 35 years of service to the nation. Emirates has been continuously operating scheduled flights between Male’ and various destinations since 1987, connecting travelers worldwide to the dreamy shores of the Maldives.
This is the second accolade the airline has won within the past three months in appreciation of its contributions to the progress of the Maldivian Tourism Industry. The first-ever tourism association in the Maldives, Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) has also honoured the airline in July by presenting Emirates with the ‘50 years of Tourism Award by MATI’.
Since commencement of services to the Maldives on 27th May 1987, Emirates has carried over 8.5 million passengers to and from the destination and is highly deemed as one of the top airlines to the country. Currently, the award-winning airline operates 28 weekly flights between Dubai and the Maldives, linking travelers and exporters to a network of more than 140 destinations. In 2021, the Emirates renewed its long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives, reaffirming its commitment to promote trade and tourism in the nation.
