Emirates is embarking on an innovative new venture whereby customers will be able to preselect their hot main meals between 14 days and 24 hours in advance of their flights. The introduction of the meal preordering service will ensure that customers receive their preferred choice in due time as well as reduce food wastage onboard flights. The pioneering new initiative will be rolled out from 25 July onwards across Business Class cabins on all flights between Dubai and London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stansted respectively.
This endeavour further adds to the benefits of the Emirates customer experience and improves time management while providing an insightful layer into meal consumption during flights. The meal preordering service will form part of the existing suite of AI-enabled customer preference tracking data and cabin crew reports, which aid in menu planning and optimal food loading to deliver the premium ‘restaurant in the sky’ dining experience as promised by Emirates.
With the launch of this new feature, passengers travelling aboard Emirates can now browse the onboard menu up to 14 days prior to their flight by visiting the Emirates website or on the Emirates app. Customers will also have the opportunity to pre-order special meals if required and can make their selection from a wide variety of regionally inspired dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Once they have boarded the flight, cabin crews will be able to access a custom-built application to view the passenger’s choice of hot dish and deliver it promptly to the customer.
Emirates currently has plans to expand its meal preorder initiative to more routes and classes in its global network and will be closely monitoring the customer feedback received during the pilot phase of the initiative. The preordering meal service innovation is another addition to the convenience of digitally enabled journeys that Emirates passengers continue to enjoy time and time again.
