Emirates and Air Canada have explored new avenues in their partnership, offering frequent flyer members of both airlines the chance to enjoy joint loyalty programme benefits. Under this new, intriguing partnership, Emirates Skywards members can now earn and redeem Miles aboard all flights on Air Canada, which has a global network of over 220 destinations around the world. Similarly, Aeroplan members can enjoy the same benefits on all flights operated by Emirates, gaining access to more than 130 destinations across six continents that Emirates flies to from its home hub in Dubai.
The agreement between the airlines was signed on last Thursday at the Emirates Group Headquarters in Dubai. The signing took place between Dr. Nejib Ben Khedher, Divisional Senior Vice President Emirates Skywards and Mark Youssef Nasr, Senior Vice President, Product, Marketing, e-Commerce, Air Canada and President, Aeroplan.
Speaking on the partnership, Dr. Nejib Ben Khedher, Divisional Senior Vice President Emirates Skywards remarked “We’re very pleased to be enhancing our partnership with Air Canada and officially kicking off our joint loyalty programme offering. Together, close to 40 million frequent flyer members will be able to earn and redeem Miles across a joint network of more than 350 destinations and enjoy selected benefits, such as lounge access. We look forward to opening new horizons for our loyal members and to also welcoming Aeroplan customers on-board Emirates with our award-winning products and exceptional services.”
With the plethora of greater travel choices and the prospect of earning more miles, members of both the loyalty programmes have much to gain. Apart from earning miles on all eligible Air Canada flights, Skyward members can also redeem Miles for reward tickets throughout the Air Canada network. For one-way reward tickets, passengers can gain 8,000 Miles in Economy Class while in Business Class, 16,000 miles can be racked up.
For Aeroplan members, they can earn Aeroplan Points on all eligible Emirates flights based on fare type purchased and will be able to redeem Aeroplan Points on Emirates flights. Points can be redeemed starting at 15,000 Points one-way on Economy Class and Business Class and members are even given the flexibility to combine Aeroplan’s vast network of airline partners on a single ticket to create countless reward possibilities.
As for Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members flying with Air Canada or Emirates Economy Class, they can access the exclusive Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges as well as Air Canada Café’ in Toronto Pearson with one additional guest. In Emirates home hub, Dubai Aeroplan Elite 50K, 75K and Super Elite members travelling in Economy Class of Emirates will be provided the complimentary access to Emirate’s grand Business Class Lounge accompanied by one guest.
