The national flagship carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Etihad Airways has been ranked among the most punctual airlines this summer in the Middle East and the World. The ranking was done based on data from global aviation analytics group, OAC.
The summer period is a peak season in the airline industry with demands for travel soaring as people depart on their summer vacation. During this bustling season, Etihad Airways was able to maintain their on-time arrival performance within 15 minutes for 83% of the time since April.
In the OAG’s listing of Punctuality League ratings, Etihad Airways was recognized as one of the few airlines operating in the Middle East with and consistent 80% on time-arrival performance. Moreover, the airline is also distinguished as one of the airlines with the lowest cancellation rates in the world.
Chief Operating Officer of Etihad Airways, Mohammad Al Bulooki said “Etihad’s stable performance throughout an extremely challenging summer demonstrated our unwavering commitment to deliver our flight schedule on time and providing a high-quality end to-end experience to our guests”.
On-time performance is defined by OAG as a flight arriving within 15 minutes of its scheduled time, a standard measure within the airline industry, taking into account the range of variable factors which can affect operations.
