Emirates partners with Shahid, the top Arabic streaming service in the world, to exclusively offer premium content onboard its ice in-flight entertainment system, which has won numerous awards.
The largest and most prestigious media conglomerate in the Middle East and North Africa, MBC GROUP, includes Shahid (MENA). With the exception of the streaming service's own premium-subscription online platform, this partnership makes Emirates Ice the only channel to provide access to highly popular Shahid Originals films.
All Emirates customers will be able to choose from a wide range of over 135 hours of Shahid content across 15 shows starting in July 2022, with something for every member of the family. Onboard Emirates, program subtitles also increase the content's accessibility to a wider international audience.
With more than 420 audio channels and 170 channels of movies and TV shows already available on Emirates, the recently added content from Shahid expands the vast library of Arabic content. To serve its diverse customer base, Emirates' award-winning ice inflight entertainment system has more than 5,000 channels, more than 4,000 hours of movies and TV, and nearly 3,500 hours of music and podcasts. This unmatched breadth of content is available in 40 languages.
“We are excited to welcome the world’s leading Arabic streaming service content onboard – so passengers can catch up on all their favourite entertainment inflight, just as they do at home. We look forward to growing the partnership and making even more of their popular shows and movies available to our customers in the future.” Expressing his thoughts over the course is the Senior Vice President of Retail, IFE and Connectivity in Emirates Airlines, Mr Patrick Brannelly.
“We are extremely proud to partner with Emirates, an award-winning airline who, like us, is always striving to give the best to their customers. Emirates is our first airline partner, and their global footprint enables us to reach viewers from many new markets and broaden the reach of our shows and brand – there is no better match for our ambitions. We are excited to offer Shahid’s content for Emirates’ customers to enjoy, just in time for the busiest travel season of the year.” Sharing her insight over the course is the Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer (VOD) of MBC Group, Ms. Natasha Matos-Hemingway.
Rashash, Shahid's most notable original production and one of the most watched movies in the Arab world, will be streamed by an airline for the first time on Emirates. Additionally, Emirates customers can watch a variety of popular MBC GROUP titles, including Anbar 6, Hell's Gate, Dor Al Omor, Nemra Etnein, Al Shak, Al Jedar Al Rabea, Rahn El Tahqiq, 2020, Bi Saraha Ma'a, Dofa'at Beirut, Aghani Min Hayati, Kaf w Dafoof, and Salon Zahra, in addition to a wide selection of exclusive Shahid Content comes from places like Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), and Syria.
Emirates ice offers a variety of useful features in addition to entertainment, including the ability to check the status of the flight while it is in flight, a live view of the sky during takeoff and landing thanks to cameras fixed to the nose, tail, and underbelly of the aircraft, a useful travel guide about Emirates' hub Dubai, EmiratesRED, the world's first in-flight TV shopping channel, and a variety of personal development materials like LinkedIn Learning.
Customers of Emirates can create their own playlist on The Emirates Mobile App, sync it on board, and watch it before their flight from over 5,000 channels of on-demand movies, music, TV shows, box sets, and documentaries for a more individualized travel experience.
