Cora Cora, a luxury five-star resort based in the Maldives which is located in Pristine Raa Atoll, is all about empowering women and making the way for women to take the lead and run things. And right now, they have the first-ever, all-female culinary team in the Maldivian hospitality industry working in their Asian restaurant, Ginger Moon.
Chef May is the talented head chef and Ginger Moon provided a platform for her and her team, who originated from Thailand, to shine. The result is delicious Asian food made with love and passion in a way that soothes the soul.
Chef May herself is someone who is empathic in nature and with that, comes being compassionate. She always nurtures and encourages her team's creativity as that helps further everyone's passion for food, which makes them feel motivated to deliver personalized service to each and every one of their guests,
The team ranges from 25 years to 38 years of age and all of them have worked on an international platform, which makes for a dynamic, motivated, and creative work environment.
In a male-dominated industry such as culinary, Ginger Moon is leading the way for change. Most kitchens work in an intimidating and aggressive manner, however, Ginger Moon is the polar opposite and works in a calm and measured manner, which attributes to a healthy and positive environment to work in.
“Cora Cora Maldives is leading the way for female chefs and women in the Maldivian hospitality overall, they are creating equality in what is traditionally considered a male-dominated sector. It is so exciting and rewarding to oversee an all-female restaurant team and I do hope other resorts follow in the footsteps of Cora Cora Maldives to create opportunities for women” points out Chef May.
With a convivial atmosphere and the sound of sizzling woks and searing grills, Ginger Moon is a great place to hang out with family or friends – and to make new ones as you chat to your neighbors about the colorful food on your plates.
The restaurant provides vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, pork-free, low-salt, low-carb, and alcohol-free options, along with dishes that have refined sugar, as they cater to everyone without discrimination.
