As they do, the Ministry of Tourism, with the assistance of Maldives Immigration, has published the official tourist arrival statistics for the first 13 days of April of 2022.
The total number of tourists for this time period reached 66,724 with the daily average being 5,133. This is a 50.7% increase from the same time period in 2021 when there were 44,270 arrivals.
The promotions of the country for this year as it is the Golden Jubilee Year of Tourism for the Maldives, are all contributing to the increase in the number of tourist arrival rates, as the arrival numbers up till only the 13th of April yielded almost 500k tourists to have entered the country.
This is a huge increase from the same period of 2021, with an increase of 45.3%.
And for the first time ever in the Maldives. the leading market as of the 13th of April, is the United Kingdom, with a share of 13.2%. It is followed by India which contributed 10.9%, and then Russia contributing 10.8%. Other notable markets include Germany, Italy, France, the USA, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, and Austria.
