Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives Commemorates 40th Anniversary

Kandooma Island, home to Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, is celebrating a remarkable 40 years of unforgettable experiences, warm hospitality, and lasting memories. Since opening in 1985, the resort has become a beloved destination, welcoming guests who return year after year to explore its natural beauty and exceptional service.

To mark this milestone, a series of special events will lead up to the official 40th Anniversary Celebration on 19 March 2025. Guests visiting during this time will enjoy exciting festivities and sustainability initiatives, along with exclusive surprises for those checking in on the day of the celebration.

General Manager Mark Eletr expressed his pride in the resort’s legacy, highlighting the dedication and passion that has shaped Kandooma’s success. "Celebrating four decades is a testament to the commitment to sustainability, innovation, and warm hospitality that defines Kandooma," Eletr shared.

The anniversary's highlight will be a Gala Dinner at Kandooma Café on 19 March, featuring a live DJ and singers. To thank loyal guests, up to 40,000 IHG Rewards Points will be given away at the event.

A special tree-planting ceremony will also take place, where 40 long-serving employees will plant 40 coconut palms, each named in their honor. Zakariyya Mahmood, a crew leader who has been with the island since 1982, and Mohamed Hashim, the Housekeeping Manager, are among the long-serving employees who will lead this tribute to their contributions.

Another special legacy project is the creation of an Underwater Time Capsule. The sealed container, filled with guest wishes, employee letters, and memorabilia, will be placed at a dive site and retrieved in 2035 for the resort’s 50th anniversary.
