In August last year, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives introduced a groundbreaking ‘Dive Free’ promotion, offering guests free scuba diving. Due to its overwhelming success, the resort is excited to announce the extension of this offer until October 31, 2025.
“When we launched ‘Dive Free,’ we knew it would set us apart from our competitors, and it did. It has been extremely well received by scuba divers from around the world visiting the Maldives,” said Mark Eletr, General Manager of Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives.
Located just a 15-minute boat ride away from some of the top dive sites in the Maldives, the resort’s prime location makes it possible for guests to enjoy multiple dives in a single day. The ‘Dive Free’ promotion is available to guests staying three or more nights, and it’s treated as an integral part of the Kandooma experience, similar to breakfast and access to the Kids’ Club.
Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives boasts a five-star PADI resort dive centre, complete with experienced instructors, purpose-built facilities, and a dedicated fleet of dive boats. In 2023, the resort was named the Best Dive Resort in the Maldives and has been nominated for the same award again in 2024.
Divers can explore a variety of nearby dive spots, each offering unique marine experiences:
Kandooma Thila: Known for its vibrant schools of fish, colorful coral formations, and diverse marine life, including white-tip reef sharks and eagle rays.
Guraidhoo Corner: Offers thrilling drift dives with grey reef sharks, white-tip sharks, and eagle rays amidst dramatic underwater structures.
Cocoa Corner: Famous for its strong currents, this site attracts hammerhead sharks, manta rays, and other large marine species.
Kuda Giri: Features a small wreck and pinnacle, ideal for less experienced divers due to minimal currents.
Manta Point: A hotspot for observing the graceful dance of manta rays as they feed and get cleaned by smaller fish.
Kandooma Caves: A labyrinth of swim-throughs and underwater caverns adorned with sponges and gorgonians, perfect for macro photography and occasional sightings of larger predators.
“We are passionate about life beneath the surface; it truly is an aquatic wonderland,” said Mark. “I’m a keen diver myself, and exploring and sharing the deep blue with our guests is one of the highlights of my time here in the Maldives.”
The ‘Dive Free’ inclusions are available to full-paying guests staying a minimum of three nights and include two single-tank group dives for two certified divers per villa, per day. All dives are fully guided, with free dive equipment, boat transfers, and air/Nitrox provided. Guests must be fit to dive and fully certified, following PADI best practices.
Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, located in the South Malé Atoll, is a 40-minute boat ride from the airport. The resort offers a variety of accommodations, including Garden and Beach Villas, two-storey Beach Houses, a three-bedroom Beach Pool Villa, and popular Overwater Villas.
Families are well catered for with the Kandoo Kids’ Club, featuring a dedicated water zone and a full activities programme. Dining options include six food and beverage outlets, offering a range of delicious cuisines and Maldivian flavors influenced by India and Arabia.
Between dives, guests can relax on sun loungers and hammocks around the island or unwind at the tranquil Kandooma Spa by COMO Shambhala.
