The Maldives is preparing for a significant push into two emerging tourism markets, with the upcoming "I AM Maldives Roadshow" set to take place from December 17th to 20th, 2024, in Tbilisi, Georgia, and Baku, Azerbaijan. Organized by the National Hotels and Guest House Association of Maldives (NHGAM), in collaboration with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) and the Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators (MATATO), the roadshow aims to strengthen the country's tourism presence in these regions.
The event will feature 18 co-exhibitors, including resorts, guesthouses, hotels, and travel agencies from the Maldives. These participants will showcase their offerings to industry professionals, establish valuable partnerships, and explore the growing potential of these markets. By connecting with travel agents, operators, and influencers, the roadshow will help drive tourism arrivals to the Maldives from Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Abdulla Nasheed, President of NHGAM, expressed excitement about the initiative, highlighting the promising opportunities these regions present for local island tourism.
The event will feature airline presentations on connectivity to the Maldives, a destination presentation from Visit Maldives, and insights into local island tourism products. In addition, 40 exciting raffle giveaways will be held, with holiday packages sponsored by the participating industry partners.
Ibrahim Shiury, CEO of MMPRC/Visit Maldives, emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan and Georgia as emerging markets, stating that the roadshow is a strategic move to enhance the Maldives' presence and showcase its unique offerings.
As part of its ongoing market development strategy, NHGAM is also collaborating with Air Arabia as the official travel partner for the event, ensuring cost-effective participation. Visit Maldives will also host a familiarization trip for media and influencers from Azerbaijan to further support the roadshow’s success.
The “I AM Maldives Roadshow” marks the first of many initiatives planned by NHGAM to expand its market reach in 2024, offering new growth opportunities for the Maldives tourism sector in emerging international markets.
