IndiGo Airlines, the largest airline in India by fleet size is all set to grace the Maldivian skies more often with scheduled flights commencing from two more Indian Cities. The airline, renowned for its low fares revealed that plans are underway to introduce flights to the Maldives from the majestic cites of Chennai and Hyderabad.
From the 1st of November, passengers can enjoy direct flights from two of the destinations to the Maldives. Velana International Airport will host flights from Chennai every Tuesday, Thursday and on the weekend on Saturday. Scheduled flights from Hyderabad are set to operate on the weekdays Monday, Wednesday and Friday and will make a feature on Sunday during the weekend.
With India as the current top market in the Maldives, many visitors from the country visit our shores every month. As of 31st August 2022, a total of 153,204 tourists visited the Maldives in 2022 from India, placing the Indian Market in the rank 1 of the top 10 source markets. IndiGo Airlines recommenced flights to the Maldives post-lockdown in 2020 and already operates flights from Bangalore and Mumbai to the country.
