A multi-million-dollar project that started in 2020 has come to a wrap, unveiling a collection of the world’s largest private pool residences with the renovation completion of Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas’ two-bedroom over water pool residences. The project kicked off to redesign the exclusive collection of its four-, three- and two- bedroom beach pool residences.
These seven accommodation settings inspired by the natural beauty of the island encircled by a pure white shoreline, are the pinnacle of palatial seclusion, ideally suited for multi-generational vacations and larger group travel. The elements that were signature to the previous model – space that marries light with the airy interior refit equipped with smart technology and comforts of home – were carefully preserved in the revamped new villas as well. The brand-new look hence maintains a welcoming familiarity with utter new surprises for repeat guests to Kihavah in its 10th year of providing excellent service.
Two-Bedroom Over Water Pool Residence
The expansive boast of Anantara Kihavah’s Two-Bedroom Over Water Pool Residence calmly sits on the crystal-clear lagoon of the island, offering commanding views of the Indian ocean through its floor-to-ceiling windows across its entirety. Each villa is fitted with a professional working kitchen in the living and dining room with ensuited bedrooms at either end.
Hugging the structure is ample outdoor living space, an infinity pool and shaded outdoor dining sala ideal for shared leisurely hangouts with family and friends. Tiled in natural Sukabumhi stone, the infinity pool presents an ever-shifting overtone of green and blue with each movement of the sun, mirroring the hues of its turquoise-coloured surroundings.
Even though one is on holiday, health is of utmost priority to the modern-day traveler and keeping that in mind, redesign of these residences saw the addition of a gym fully equipped with the latest in TechnoGym machinery, and a couple’s spa treatment room. The retractable blinds in the rooms allow unfiltered sunlight to enter and when night falls, gazes an infinite sky of stars.
Taking the signature Anantara Spa massage experiences a notch further, strategically placed glass panels underneath plush spa treatment beds allow a peak into the marine life in abundance beneath the residence. Glass-bottomed whirlpool bathtubs have also been fitted in each bathroom, providing therapeutic massages and astounding underwater views even during bath time.
Each residence also embodies the true Maldivian heritage with Kajan thatched palm roofs and Balau hardwood flooring spanning the entirety of its expansive outdoor deck. Just when you feel like it, laze around over the water in netted hammocks suspended in the decks.
Four-, Three- and Two-Bedroom Beach Pool Residences
Commanding generous space over 2000 sq. m, the Four-Bedroom Beach Pool Residence steals the show as the crown jewel. Ideally fitting in a family of 8 adults and 4 kids or 12 adults at a time, the layoit of the villa is smartly thought through to provide a capacious space optimized for creating shared memories or moments of solitude. Set at the end of a lush garden pathway, a connecting door adjoins the standalone villa fitted with its own ensuite, infinity pool and dining pavilion, with the main wing of the residence.
In testament to the premise of luxury at its most spacious, the collection’s remaining beachfront hideaways start from 1,330 sq. m for the two-bedroom option to 1,770 sq. m for the three-bedroom residence. Cradled by lush foliage and bright bougainvillea accents, occasional sights of coconut trees jutting through floors or ceilings is testament to the resort’s commitment toward preserving the natural beauty of the island, whilst optimising each residence’s space.
Similar to the overwater pool residences, each of the beachfront residents reflect similar traditional Maldivian elements in its furnishing and décor. The newly extended swimming pools, measuring 20 metres x 6 metres for the four-bedroom retreat and 16 metres x 6 metres for the two- and three- bedroom residences, are now fitted with massage jets, whilst an outdoor Sala Thai provides shaded relief for lounging and dining.
The simple yet elegant façade belies the intricate redesign within. The previously knows dark wood scheme is now uplifted with an airy, neutral light palette with rattan details, woven straw carpets, Maldivian motifs and teak wood furniture further accents the distinctively tropical vibe of each room. The signature floor-to-ceiling doors in the main living and dining areas slide open effortlessly to reveal sweeping views of the tropics.
Embodying the beautiful island of Kihavah is the water feature wall designed to mimic that of a real waterfall, is the highlight in each revamped bathroom newly fitted with intelligent toilet technology. Here too, wellbeing and fitness is not forgotten as each residence houses its own private double-bed spa treatment room and gym featuring a complete range of fitness equipment.
With a dedicated Villa Host to attend to every need, and a Wine Sommelier, Personal Chef and Baby-Sitting service on request, a stay in one of these residences is a promise of a truly private escape.
