Currently, MBBT consists of 4 body boarders and a Manager: Ali Khushruwan Ahmed, Aswan Mohamed, Ahmed Nazmeen, Ali Aanim and Team Manager Hussain Nizam. While a National team has been created, Maldivian body boarders continue to achieve great things in the field. In fact, team member Ali Khushruwan Ahmed (Kuda Ayya) is not only the best body boarder in Maldives, but also represented his country in many competitions abroad.

Founded in 2013, the Maldives Body Boarding Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a platform for all body boarders in the Maldives. The MBBA organize and sanction professional events, make new rules for the sport, help promote grassroots growth, strengthen the bonds of friendship between existing associations, classes and disciplines of body boarding and to provide support and services for all body boarders.

In the Maldives, a country 99% surrounded by water, body boarding plays a huge role in youth culture. The country has some of the best surf points such as the Lohi’s in North Male`Atoll, Pasta Point near Cinnamon Dhonveli Resort and the Malik’s located off the island of Hirilandhoo. From the crowd-packed, but perfect breaks of the Northern and Malé Atolls to the off-the-beaten-track, fast-forming, clean barrels of the Southern Atolls, the Maldives is a surfer’s paradise.
