ITA Airways, the national flagship carrier of Italy has announced that it will be recommencing scheduled flights to the Maldives for the Christmas Holidays. With the winter holidays set to begin soon, many airlines have resumed seasonal service to the Maldives to cater to the increased demand for the destination. This includes British Airways, Austrian Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines.
ITA Airways will be reinstating flights starting on 17th December 2022. The flagship carrier will be utilizing the recently acquired Airbus A350 on the routes. Initially, three weekly flights will be operated between Rome and Velana International Airport (VIA) from 21st December 2022 to 22nd January 2023. Afterward, service will be stepped down to two weekly flights operated between 28th January 2023 and 15th April 2023.
ITA Airways was incepted in November Y2020 following the bankruptcy of the previous national airline, Alitalia. A state-owned flag carrier, the airline flies to more than 60 scheduled domestic, European and intercontinental destinations. The airline is also a member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance.
