This festive season, JOALI BEING, the extraordinary wellbeing island in the Maldives, is teaming up with celebrated sustainability-focused chef, Bettina Campolucci Bordi from Bettina's Kitchen. Located on the pristine Bodufushi isle in Raa Atoll, this partnership promises an unforgettable culinary experience rooted in sustainability and community engagement.
The collaboration kicks off with a community cooking workshop on December 30th at The Culinary Learning Centre. This event, in support of JOALI BEING's 'Joy of Empowering Women through Farming' initiative, aims to empower local women by providing training in hydroponic systems for home vegetable cultivation, ultimately enabling them to generate income. Participants will be selected in collaboration with the Dhuvaafaru Women's Development Committee and the local NGO.
On December 29th, guests can look forward to an exclusive dining experience at FLOMT Restaurant, showcasing Bettina's eco-conscious culinary expertise. The menu will highlight foraged and locally sourced ingredients, presenting a delectable spread ranging from a three-way pumpkin platter to a Garden of JOALI celebration of vegan delights. Dessert enthusiasts will savor an adaptogenic creation featuring cacao nibs, chocolate mousse, and aquafaba meringue.
Bettina Campolucci Bordi shared her excitement about the collaboration, saying, "It's truly an honour to unite with JOALI BEING as we craft a menu that's a testament to sustainability, harnessing the bounty of local, seasonal produce. Every dish is not just a meal, but a story - influenced by culture, the beauty around us, and the heart of each ingredient. Together, in our workshops, we'll explore and celebrate the magic of plant-based cuisine, igniting passion and curiosity in every bite."
JOALI BEING, nestled in the heart of Bodufushi in Raa Atoll, is a sanctuary that seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings. The island's design, a collaboration between architects and design studios, aims to harmonize with the environment, preserving the local landscape and wildlife.
