JOALI BEING is thrilled to announce the addition of two exceptional professionals to its leadership team: Frederic Marti as the Resort Manager and Taylor-Jayne Shearman as the Executive Chef. These appointments are set to enhance the resort's transformative guest experiences with their extensive multi-national expertise and innovative contributions.
Frederic Marti – Resort Manager
Frederic Marti’s passion for hospitality began in his grandmother’s hotel restaurant in Palamós, Spain. Growing up surrounded by the tantalizing aromas of freshly prepared food and the lively atmosphere of communal feasts, Frederic was inspired to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. His journey took him from working at esteemed establishments like “Le pont de la Tour" and "Le Gavroche" in London to a 3-star Michelin restaurant by the Roca Brothers in Girona.
Hailing from France, Frederic’s impressive career includes roles at the legendary “Hôtel de Crillon" palace in Paris and the Summer Lodge Country House Hotel & Restaurant in London. He worked with Michelin star chef James Atherton at Pollen Street Social and served as a restaurant manager at the Town Hall Hotel. Frederic also held positions as Wine Director and General Manager of a pop-up, before joining the Dorchester Collection as a Beverage Director. Most recently, he was the Food and Beverage Director at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
Frederic is delighted to join JOALI BEING, a place he describes as reflecting his lifestyle. A marathon runner, yogi, and meditation enthusiast, Frederic says, “I am so happy and proud to have found my new home.”
Taylor-Jayne Shearman – Executive Chef
Taylor-Jayne Shearman’s culinary journey began in the Australian Snowy Mountains. With a passion for the outdoors, she learned to ski at a young age and spent her summers training in the swimming pool. Taylor was recognized as the top VET (Vocational Educational Technology) student in Australia for Hospitality and completed her Certificate III in Commercial Cookery at TAFE Ryde, graduating early due to advanced learning credits.
At just 13, Taylor started working part-time in various cafes and restaurants in her hometown. By 16, she was working for Rick Stein at “Bannisters by the Sea” while completing high school. She began her apprenticeship immediately after graduation and soon moved to Sydney to work for one of the city's top restaurants, Mad Cow. Taylor’s career took her to the Caribbean, where she worked with global celebrities and A-list actors as a Sous Chef and Head Chef of private estates.
Taylor joined the JOALI family in 2018, where she played a key role in developing restaurant concepts and contributing to the pre-opening of JOALI Maldives. Inspired by Esin Güral Argat, Vice President of Gürok Group and the visionary behind the JOALI brand, Taylor’s leadership in the hospitality industry flourished. Post-pandemic, she served as Executive Chef for LUX* North Male, which later became Jumeirah Maldives.
Returning to JOALI BEING, Taylor is eager to mentor the next generation of chefs, especially Maldivians and females. A certified diving instructor with a deep love for the ocean, Taylor is committed to sustainability and embracing diverse food cultures. “If you set your mind and stay focused, you can achieve anything,” she says.
