Journey Over the Moon and to the Stars!

Saturday 27th of February 2021

Stars. A billion of them. So far away, yet so close at The Observatory in Soneva Fushi. Here in the middle of the ocean, far from the fires of civilization, one will be amazed at how much the naked eye can see. And guests can indulge in a 3D astronomy experience, the world’s first destination to facilitate so. It lets you see space and deep sky objects as they are - a rare chance to look at the nature of our universe.

Soneva Fushi has announced the exciting news of world-renowned astronomer Lars Lindberg Christensen’s arrival at the resort from March 27 – April 10 bringing a wealth of fascinating talks and not-to-be-missed astronomy dinners, taking guests on a journey of discovery across the heavens.

Lars Lindberg Christensen is science communicator and an award-winning astronomer who has authored a dozen books on astronomy and science communication translated to ten languages. Lars has directed more than 10 documentaries and planetarium movies that have received critical acclaim around the world.

As stated in ancient history, Maldivians used the stars to navigate the Indian Ocean. Enjoy a magical night peeking through the magnifying lenses of our modern telescope and see Saturn's rings and their motionless, translucent curves. Count the moons of Jupiter. Take advantage of our remote island location and see celestial bodies invisible from most of the world.
