Home-grown brand, Kaimoo Resorts & Hotels has partnered with the Maldives Coral Institute to host the upcoming ‘Coral Festival 2023’. The eco-friendly festival will be held from April 28th to 30th at the Maldives University Campus in S. Hithadhoo, Addu City. During the festival, Kaimoo Resorts & Hotels will serve as the official accommodation partner for the exclusive invitees.
Globally renowned coral experts and scientists arriving for the festival will take residence at the Equator Village – a Kaimoo hotel-branded property in S. Gan. Located a short distance away from Gan International Airport, Equator Village is a well-situated property that capitalizes on Addu’s distinctive nature and pristine marine biodiversity. Moreover, it also houses excellent lodgings, dining, and spa facilities for both local and international guests staying at the hotel.
The three-day Coral festival will bring together several relevant organizations and individuals under one platform, including environmentalists, oceanographers, local NGOs, political leaders, and members of the public to discuss and talk about the Maldives’ delicate coral reefs and fragile marine ecosystems.
Speaking on the unique partnership, Managing Director of Kaimoo Resorts & Hotels, Manih Mohamed remarked “Kaimoo strongly believes that preserving our beautiful coral reefs is crucial in guaranteeing our future. That is why we are partnering with the Coral Institute for this festival to generate as much awareness about preserving our pristine reefs.”
At Equator Village, a number of conservation and sustainability initiatives are underway similar to all other Kaimoo-branded properties. In 2019, Equator Village pledged to protect all its existing 7600 sqm of seagrass beds as part of the #ProtectMaldivesSeagrass initiative. Likewise, the brand has also phased out single-use plastic across all its properties as well.
