Empowering Marine Conservation at Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa

Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa has bolstered its commitment to marine conservation by appointing Felicity Jerams as its new marine biologist. In this pivotal role, Felicity will play a vital part in the preservation and well-being of the marine life and delicate ecosystem surrounding the resort.

Nestled in the Lhaviyani Atoll, this eco-conscious haven is home to a rich tapestry of wildlife, encompassing vibrant underwater coral gardens, intricate mangrove forests, and flourishing seagrass meadows. Recognizing the Maldives' vulnerability to climate change, including rising sea temperatures and beach erosion, the resort's focus on conservation is paramount.

Felicity's responsibilities span from crafting coral frames to protect and nurture the ecosystem to identifying and monitoring the health of key marine species like coral, turtles, rays, and sharks. Collaborating closely with the resort's dive partner, Sub Oceanic, she also engages guests in a series of immersive conservation initiatives.

Hailing from the UK, Felicity brings a wealth of expertise to her role, having studied marine biology with Zoology at Bangor University. Her journey in marine conservation led her to work at renowned establishments like Chester Zoo and Anglesey Sea Zoo before embarking on conservation projects in Costa Rica.

Reflecting on her role, Felicity shared, “Working and living in the Maldives was a dream, moving out here and seeing how amazing the marine life is and seeing animals I have never seen before is very fulfilling and getting to share my knowledge with the people of the resort and the guests fills me with joy every day.”

With Felicity at the helm, Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa is poised to elevate its efforts in preserving and cherishing the extraordinary marine life that graces its pristine surroundings.
