The brand-new domestic airport in Madivaru island, developed by Kuredu Holdings Pvt Ltd and constructed by China’s Beijing Urban Construction Group, was graced by their first flight on Saturday, December 25th, 2021.
The agreement for the airport was signed on May 29th, 2018 and is now ready for operations. The new addition to the list of domestic airports in the country will give an ease for the tourists that are traveling to the nearby resorts.
The first airport in the atoll of Lhaviyani, has a meter runway of 1,200-meter runway, an apron, a fire station and a modern passenger terminal. The first flight was welcomed to the airport with top officials from Transport Ministry, state-owned enterprises and the Chairman of Champa Brother’s, Mohamed Moosa.
