The Burunu Boma was officially launched on December 20th, 2024, in a ceremony held at the Malé Table Tennis Hall, with the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, in attendance. The event will bring together local and international anglers to compete for a grand prize of USD 10,000 while exploring the Maldives’ rich marine environments.
The tournament will follow a “catch and release” format, ensuring the protection of the Maldives' marine life while encouraging friendly competition.
