Among the accolades bestowed upon the Maldives are titles for Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2024, Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024, Leading Green Destination 2024, and Leading Dive Destination 2024. These wins underscore the country's exceptional appeal as a tourist destination and its dedication to sustainable tourism practices.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are highly esteemed within the travel industry, recognizing excellence in various facets of tourism on a global scale. The ceremony, held at the World Travel Awards Winners Hub during ATM, saw distinguished individuals from the Maldives accept the prestigious awards.
Mr. Ibrahim Faisal, Minister of Tourism, received the award for Indian Ocean's Leading Destination 2024, while Ms. Ayesha Nurain Janah, Chairperson of the MMPRC Board, proudly accepted the award for Leading Honeymoon Destination 2024. Additionally, Ms. Fathmath Thaufeeq received the award for Leading Green Destination 2024 on behalf of the Maldives, and Mr. Mohamed Khaleel, Advisor to the President on Tourism Development, accepted the award for Leading Dive Destination 2024.
