Maldives Nominates For ‘World’s Leading Destination’ For The Third Consecutive Time

The Maldives has yet again managed to take a spot in the nominees list for the most prestigious title of ‘World’s Leading Destination’. The accolade will be presented at the 29th edition of Annual World Travel Awards (WTA). This year’s awards are particularly important for the Maldives, as the destination have been defending their tile for the past two years. With 2022 being the Golden Year of Tourism for the Maldives, the island destination hopes to make three at this year’s awards, hallmarking the progress of the industry at its finest.

The voting for the titles are currently open with the voting set to close on 20th October 2022. Along with being nominated for the coveted title of ‘World’s Leading Destination, Maldives also nominated for three other accolades. This includes World’s Leading Island Destination, World’s Most Romantic Destination and World’s Leading Tourist Board. For the latter, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) was nominated.

The World Travel Awards are ranked among the most highly acclaimed and comprehensive awards in the international travel industry, especially the title of ‘World’s Leading Destination’. In 2020 and 2021, Maldives took home the title amidst the many difficulties posed by the ongoing global pandemic of Covid-19. This year Maldives aspires to make a hat-trick, cementing the destination as a tourism hotspot and a leading master in the travel trade. Moreover, it would also be a well-deserved thank you to the industry who have managed to take the Maldivian tourism to soaring heights in the span of 50 years.
