Maldives Removed from the UK Red List!

Maldives Removed from the UK Red List!

Saturday 18th of September 2021

For the past few months, travelers from the UK have been on hold given the Maldives remained on its ‘Red List’ as the archipelago observed a sudden surge in Covid19 cases. Although minimally impacting the tourist bubbles that remain completely exclusive to one-island-one-resort establishments, and tourist vessels, restrictive measures were put in place to ensure that the situation does not go out of control.

As of today, Maldives has officially been removed from the Red List with promising improvements being shown in curbing the virus spread. Britons can once again enjoy a quarantine-free holiday in their favorite tropical destination of the Maldives!

Currently, anyone travelling to an amber list country who is fully vaccinated is required to take one test before departure, and one PCR test on or before day two of arrival in the UK. No quarantine is required unless the test is positive. This, of course, will change from 4 October, with travellers able to visit any country that's not on the red list, and simpler testing requirements for those who are fully-vaccinated.

Reportedly, arrangements are being made to eliminate the Green and Amber lists to simplify the restrictive measures. Once implemented, only one Red list will remain and countries not on the list will be considered non-red list countries with a go ahead. It was also announced that ‘from later in October’, the day-two PCR test requirement will be changed, with travellers able to take a cheaper lateral flow instead.

Maldives has implemented rigorous safety measures across all touchpoints to safeguard the travellers who visit to utilize the best of the safe haven in the Indian Ocean destination. One of them is the ‘I’m Vaccinated’ initiative taken up by the tourism industry nationwide – one of the many efforts to ensure the hospitality service providers are fully vaccinated.

Maldives and its sunny, authentic experiences await!
