The Maldives has seen a significant rise in tourist arrivals, reaching 1.2 million so far this year, the Ministry of Tourism reports. This represents a 10% growth compared to the same period in 2023, when the country welcomed one million tourists.
Notably, the first three days of this month saw 19,000 visitors, a 21% increase from the same time last year. China remains the top source market with 164,000 arrivals, while Russia follows with 128,000 and the UK with 106,000 visitors.
The government is optimistic about reaching its goal of two million tourists by the end of the year, reflecting the Maldives' continued appeal as a top travel destination.
