Maldives Wins “Best Island In Asia” At Travel+Leisure’s World’s Best Award 2022

The Maldives has claimed another accolade to their prized tourism award collection; this time winning the “Best Island In Asia” award at World’s Best Award 2022 hosted by Travel + Leisure in New York City.

The award was received on behalf of Maldives by her excellency Thilmeeza Hussein the Ambassador to the United States of America from the Maldives and the Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

The purpose of the Travel+Leisure Global Vision Awards is to acknowledge and honour companies, destinations and organisations aiming to implement more sustainable tourism practices, products and experiences.

On the occasion of this win, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MMPRC Thoyyib Mohamed stated that it is always an appreciative and cherished privilege for the entire destination to win in the international field.

He further remarked that such awards are won by the joint contributions of numerous stakeholders in the industry and government and that the responsibility of promoting and drawing as many visitors as possible is a task that is continuously challenged by other competitors in the market. He added that irrespective of that, Maldives as a destination will always strive to come up with innovative ways to get ahead of the competition while promising to offer the best of the best to all visitors.

Maldives has already won 4 distinguished awards in this year so far, including Most Preferred Tourist Destination 2021 and Best Marketing Initiative of the year for the “Redefining Mice” campaign at Global Mice Congress and Awards 2022. Moreover, various tourism establishments have won different individual awards over this year as well.

The most noteworthy achievement to the Maldives was winning the World’s Leading Destination title at the World’s Travel Awards last year.
