Ibrahim Haffaf, a young talent of the Maldives, celebrates the release of his first official song ‘Manje’. The 25 year old singer started his journey playing small wedding gigs and cafe's in Male'. A great milestone in his road to success was his first ever resort gig in late 2016. Haffaf has been regularly gigging for the past 3 years now.
“The line 'ulhevey noolhevey gotheh neynge' came to me while I was sitting outside Meraki having my daily dose of caffeine one fine day.” Haffaf finished writing the song sitting on the bench at Meraki Coffee Roasters, the same place where he had got the idea. He said that he had completed the lyrics for a long time, but he had no idea what to do with it. ‘I had no clue what the end result would be.’
After a couple of months, while gigging with Yoosuf, the guitarist, Haffaf asked him to come up with a riff for the song. That’s how 'Manje' was born. Haffaf added that although he doesn’t remember his mind being on a specific thing or a person when he wrote it, he drew inspiration from Affan's Chaka and Eman's Conspiracy's Rizna.
‘A few months later I had the opportunity to record the song with some of the most talented people in the industry.’
