There are many reasons why the Maldives is one of the best dive destinations in the world, including its diverse wildlife. The crystal-clear waters of the Maldives are a great place to spot sharks, dolphins, and turtles. But dancing with the manta rays here is a magical experience.
On 29th January, a freediver with Shadow Palm Tours captured a group of manta rays and there was something mesmerizing about it. Rizkhan Mohamed was approached by the manta rays near Maafushi, their mouths open as they gracefully rippled their fins.
Unlike sharks and other fish, manta rays do not chew their food, but rather rely primarily on gulping down microscopic plankton as their source of nutrition.
Once feared, manta rays have recently become known as friendly to humans in active snorkelling areas.
