Ministry of Tourism Opens Investment Opportunities in 23 islands Across 7 Atolls

Are you an eligible investor interested in contributing to the development of a tourist resort in one of the many beautiful islands in the World’s Leading Destination? In an official announcement on Thursday, Ministry of Tourism is inviting interested local and foreign parties to submit proposals for the lease, development, operation and management of a tourist resort in selected uninhabited islands and/or plot of land in uninhabited islands.
The 23 islands selected for the project span across the Northern and Southern regions of the Maldives, in an aim to refocus development to the unexplored but now easily accessible regions of the country. They are:
- Velifinolhu in Haa Alif Atoll
- Alidhuffaru Finolhu in Haa Alif Atoll
- Kuda Faru Fasgan’du in Haa Dhaal Atoll
- Seedheehuraa in Meemu Atoll
- Seedheehuraa Veligan’du with Seedheehuraa in Meemu Atoll
- Maausfushi in Meemu Atoll
- Kaaddoo in Thaa Atoll
- 10 hectares from the Northern part of Kanimeedhoo in Thaa Atoll
- Olhufushi in Thaa Atoll
- Olhufushi Finolhu with Olhufushi in Thaa Atoll
- Kashidhoo in Laamu Atoll
- Bodu Munyafushi in Laamu Atoll
- Dhonberahaa in Laamu Atoll
- Holhurahaa with Dhonberahaa in Laamu Atoll
- Maarehaa in Gaaf Alif Atoll
- Funadhoo Viligillaa in Gaaf Alif Atoll
- Kandahalagalaa in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll
- Kadevaarehaa with Dhigurehaa in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll
- Dhigurehaa in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll
- Fereytha Viligilla as a cluster in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll
- Dhekaanbaa with Fereytha Viligilla in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll

A virtual information session for interested parties is scheduled to be held on April 29, 2021 at 10 a.m. local time via Zoom. Those who wish to attend are requested to send contact details (name, email address and phone number) in a formal request emailed to planning@tourism.gov.mv by 12 p.m. on April 28, 2021.
Proposals are due to be submitted by attendees on June 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. local time.
The Bid Document will be made available for purchase from April 14, 2021 to June 6, 2021, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Ministry of Tourism, 5th Floor of Velanage. Further information on the bid can be obtained by emailing the ministry at planning@tourism.gov.mv before 1 p.m. on June 6, 2021.
