Maldives Inland Revenue Authority will be open for services on 13th, 14th and 16th of April during the Government closure period. Along with extension of Government closure period, Health Minister Abdullah Ameen announced that the 30-day health emergency will be in effect until the end of April. During these three days, MIRA will be providing the following services:
1. Acceptance of tax returns
Persons to whom a MIRAconnect account has been assigned must submit their returns online via MIRAconnect. GST nil returns can be submitted via MIRAconnect and VaaruPay.
2. Acceptance of payments
Persons required to pay tax and make other payments online must make their payments online or via MRTGS. Fees such as company annual fee, vehicle and vessel annual fee, traffic violations, airport security pass fee, visa fee and zakat almal can be paid online via VaaruPay. All other payments that are not yet facilitated to be paid online will be accepted over the counters.
3. Sale of revenue stamps
Revenue stamps will be available from the counters.
4. Registration services
Application for registrations can be emailed to registration@mira.gov.mv .
5. Tax clearance applications, requests for installment plans and applications for fine relief can be emailed to the relevant email addresses given on those respective forms. MIRA will process the forms upon receiving.
6. MIRA’s call center 1415 will be available.
7. Taxpayer Service Centre will be open for those who take a service token online on MIRA’s mobile application or QueueBee, and to persons who secure an appointment through MIRA’s call centre 1415 between 9am to 1pm. It is advised to only arrive at the Taxpayer Service Centre when the person’s token is ready to be served and all persons are required to maintain social distancing at all times.
MIRA also informs that registrations under the Income Tax Act (Law number 25/2019) will be accepted without the imposition of fines until 15th of April 2020.
