Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has set into action high-profile roadshows in USA and Canada with the aim of maintaining destination momentum in the North American market. Titled the ‘Maldives Roadshow in USA and Canada’, the event will pull stops in some of the bustling metropolises of the world including Los Angeles, New York and Toronto. From the 12-15th of September, MMPRC will enlighten travelers about Maldives as the North American market climbs the charts in the top 10 source markets in 2022.
Joining on this roadshow is a delegation of 11 industry partners from the Maldives tourism sector and features world-class luxury resorts, tour operators as well as industry experts. With the aim of boosting arrival numbers from the region, the roadshow will enable the travel trade to further familiarize with the destination and improve ties between MMPRC and the US and Canadian travel trade.
Together with the industry partners, MMPRC will be showcasing the main assets of tourism in the Maldives that includes resorts, hotels, guesthouses and liveaboards. In addition to this, they will also highlight the unique geographical distribution of the islands and give a glimpse into the exclusive guest experiences awaiting at the shores of the sunny isles.
The roadshows will commence with a cordial welcome swiftly followed by a presentation of Maldives as a destination. The presentation will market the exclusive experiences in the destination and inform guests about the latest travel guidelines. The private and secluded setting given by the geographical scattering of islands are also put into emphasis during the introduction.
The afternoon is spent in networking sessions between industry partners and the North American travel trade, allowing mutually beneficial relationships to be established with potential travel agents and industry partners. The event is concluded with a sumptuous dinner.
Irrespective of the long miles, the US market reigns in the Maldives’ top source markets, a testimony to the strong destination presence in the region. As of 7th September, Maldives has welcomed 52,168 tourists from the US to our shores. Many activities were carried out to preserve destination presence in the region such as conducting travel trade webinar, joint-campaigns with leading tourism companies, familiarization trips and participation in ATTA’s AdventureELEVATE 2022.
