MMPRC Concludes Roadshow ‘Connect with Maldives, Your Ultimate Destination’

Saturday 12th of November 2022

Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has concluded a series of roadshows conducted in the United Kingdom (UK). Titled ‘Connect with Maldives, Your Ultimate Destination’ the roadshow series aimed to maintain destination momentum and further promote the Maldives in the British market. The first roadshow kick-started in London on 9th November while the second one took place in Manchester on 10th November and the final roadshow was hosted in Newcastle on 11th November 2022.

The roadshow series aspired to strengthen relations with the UK travel trade by allowing them to familiarize themselves with the Maldives and thereby increasing bookings and boosting arrivals from the market. Along with MMPRC, 12 industry partners also participated in the roadshows, using this opportunity to market and advertise the Maldives together with our main products (resorts, hotels, guesthouses and liveaboards). In addition to this, the unique geography, the recent updates and the exceptional experiences attributed to the destination were also shared with visitors.

Each roadshow commenced with a brief introduction of the industry partners followed by a destination presentation. The presentation sheds light on the scattered geography of the Maldives, the unique offerings of the destination and the latest travel guidelines implemented by the Maldives. The roadshows concluded with an exclusive raffle draw, with the chance to win a free holiday package to the Maldives for two lucky winners.

The roadshow served a key objective of consolidating trade relationships between potential travel agents and industry partners, adhering to MMPRC’s marketing strategy for the UK. The UK market is a traditional top source market for the Maldives and is currently in the 3rd position with 147,535 arrivals as of 2nd November. This accounts for approximately 11% of the market share falling shortly behind India and Russia in the charts.
