Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has partnered with Italian sustainable lifestyle magazine, Green Me to bring the sustainability efforts in Maldives to the Italian market. This marketing campaign held from July till September aims to re-instate Maldives as a cherished destination in the Italian market as well as enlighten potential travelers about sustainability measures practiced by the tourism industry.
The campaign will showcase Maldives in its best aspects as an opulent and romantic destination while still luring travelers with the prospect of diving, watersports and wellness journeys. Green Me will utilize different advertising strategies to draw attention such as branded articles, social media posts, newsletters, banners and a special category allocated to the Maldives in their online magazine.
The content shared will focus on the main products and experiences Maldives has to offer along with particular recognition given on sustainability efforts underway in different tourism establishments. These include coral restoration and marine life conservation projects and environmental awareness programs.
The campaign also aims to exploit the rising interest among Italian tourists to care for the environment and its sustainability and utilize it to place Maldives as the No.1 travel destination in the Italian market. Along with this, the campaign takes a more individualized form in hopes to revive generational affinity towards Maldives through past travelers who have spent holidays in this paradise.
The Italian market is a key component in the Maldivian tourism and has welcomed 50,000 tourists so far this year. Many attempts are underway to preserve destination presence in the Italy and MMPRC has launched several joint campaigns with partners like Lonely Planet, Alpitour, Sporting Vacanze and even participated in the BIT Milan 2022 tourism exhibition.
