On 3rd May, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) announced the completion of the construction of a harbour in Himedhoo, Alif Alif Atoll. The project, which was awarded by the Ministry of National Planning and Development on March 2019, was subsequently mobilized in April 2019.
Under this project, MTCC completed 28,030 cubic meters of dredging and excavation; the construction of a 372 meter quay wall; a 405 meter breakwater and 141 meter revetment. The construction of a bridge; a ramp and a 3meter width concrete jetty were also undertaken. Additionally, the project oversaw installation of street lights and 1,750 square meters of slab on grade paved area.
During the signing ceremony held on 1st March 2019, it was revealed that the project was to be completed within 350 days, with an estimated cost of over MVR 43.6 million. After the construction, the project has been valued at MVR. 47.1 million and it was completed on 20th April 2020.
