Going to space one day seems like a dream- and it probably is. But dreaming at Anantara Kihavah is a whole new feeling, a magical experience. Sip champagne and revel in this window to the universe as the luxury resort’s resident story-telling Sky Guru takes you on a journey to the stars.

Every moment spent on this breathtaking island is an adventure and discovery. Here, luxury is redefined, giving guests the time and opportunity to experience what they’ve always wondered. Two years ago, Anantara Kihavah unveiled the SKY, Maldives’ only overwater observatory combined with a unique luxury cocktail bar, a resident story-telling Sky Guru and housing the most powerful telescope in the region, gaze on the stars as you sip Champagne and revel in the majesty of life.

Sip on island signatures such as Kihavah Island Tea, an Indian Ocean white rum and arak with lychee, peach, lemon and a dash of Earl Grey Tea. At the Sky Bar, you can laze on low oversized daybeds that wrap around the terrace, enjoying innovative tapas and fragrant shisha. Resident DJ Kristina spins mellow vibes that shapeshift with the fading light.

Surrounded by nothing but open skies and ocean waves below, the first and only observatory in the Maldives houses a research-grade 16” Meade LX200 telescope mounted on a super-giant field tripod. Stargaze with resident astronomer Shameem as he points out the pale yellow rings of Saturn or the counter-rotating zones and belts of Jupiter that vary in width, colour and intensity from year to year.

Trained in Pune at Milky Way Citizen by Dr. Parag Mahajani, Shameem has spent the last decade observing the stars as a professional astronomer. On stargazing evenings he leads guests on a magical journey across both hemisphere’s constellations. His personal favourite is the Omega Centauri, a globular cluster in the Milky Way that according to him is “the most beautiful thing you will ever see”.
